Hi. I'm looking to buy first property. A semi detached. It's got a few cracks that I have noticed both internally and externally.

One at corner of door frame in lounge and a couple internally in bay area in bedroom. Windows look newish say last 5 years. Doors all new in last 3 years. No sticking.

Front bay has crack in pebbledash too.

I've attached a photo of one of crack on side door.

Don't want to waste money on building survey if they will just say visual signs of possible subsidence.

Cheers

Yes that's always a problem when they identify defects.

I can't see any cracks in that picture.

There's also one on front bay but don't have a photo. The crack is wider. Also a lot of the render has come of at the bottom all around house. Garden has had paving done a couple of years ago so don't know if it's because of that.

Looks like it's happened when you've had a new waste put in for your toilet.
You'll get moisture in that gap best fill it with some silicone.

The slabs look to have bridged the dpc so you may have problems there.

Blup

The movement is more likely horizontal, and with render that would typically be localised dampness, but not necessarily in that location.

I have added some more pics. The crack inside the cupboard wall is the wall that partitions between two bedrooms and is adjacent wall between neighbouring semi.

The crack under the paper is above lounge door.

The small bedroom at front. Noticed the gap at top not equal. top window board sloping?

There is still nothing saying subsidence.

But there clearly are some defects, as there are with all old houses. Whether you want a surveyor's comment on them and potential impact on the house and the sale price, is down to you.
