Hi,

I've signed up to this forum just so I can post a question regarding the boiler in the rental property I live in.

Every time the boiler starts up, it makes this horrendous buzzing noise for 10-60 seconds. It's a really loud buzzing and i'm a little concerned about the safety of the boiler.

Has anyone else experienced this or can offer advice as to what may be causing this? Our letting agents are currently saying that they won't do anything about it as the boiler is still technically working.

I would provide more details about the boiler but I don't have them. It appears to be a sealed unit with no apparent remove panels on the front. The only thing I can see if the pilot light viewing hole.

I appreciate any help or advice.

Thanks

David

I'll upload a photo later.

I'm very reluctant to start the boiler up to try and get a sound recording of it.

Also, knowing my luck, it won't make the noise when it starts up. I think I should have been a bit more careful with my word usage. The noise happens almost every time it starts up. Sometimes it won't happen at start up but will happen a bit later while the boiler is still on.

It might be easier for me to see if I can find a sound online that is the same as what I experience.

If you can start it up answer post video/sound clip we may be able to advise better of the noise. As per above post a photo of said boiler.

When was the Gas Safety certificate last done for the property?

Boiler could be several things, very difficult to say any more without further information as requested.

Most of the dangerous things a boiler will do, it will do relatively silently. Very possibly as simple as a buzzing solenoid or relay. But without a video of it, or a sound clip with details on make and model theres nothing helpful anyone on here can tell you other than if your concerned and upto date with rent payments, call the landlord/leasing agent and report it

I have a good mate a retired joiner who against everyones advice bought a house to let as his pension, has not had any rent in 11 months, has been to court twice and all the laws are on the tenents side, the month rolling lease scheme was supposed to stop this but it is like every other part of legislation, enforcing it is Nigh impossible, his tenant constantly txt me to say his heating isnt working , and I just ignore him, then he goes to the advice shop and they contact my mate and I go out, it is a total disgrace
