Pottertom Statesman Flowsure + Limit Thermostat

My Pottertom Statesman Flowsure + has a problem with the Limit Thermostat. I am unable to reset the Limit Thermostat – the Reset Button does not work. My manual lists Part No. 80009097 for all models.

The Limit Thermostat on my boiler has four terminals each connected to 1 wire – two brown, 1 red, 1 white, although the wiring diagram for the Flowsure + only shows two terminals – each one having two wires (blue / brown and red, brown). I have a spare Limit Thermostat (Part No. 26009097) with just two terminals. Would it work on my boiler if I connected two wires to each terminal?

Yes, but pressing the reset switch does nothing. It used to stick out if there was a problem, but not now.
