Hi

I have a Potterton 60E boiler

* when working HW is OK, all Rads get hot
* Cyl Stat set at 60
* Room Stat set at 22
* Boiler Stat (front Dial) will not work unless v near to 0
* 3 way valve is new
* there is a bypass circuit even though there is a 3 way valve...is this right?

Systems runs and heats up, then Overheat Stat trips, reset and all fires up again but only if dial is near 0

any clues?

Your boiler is overheating. If this is the Profile 60e then replacing the fauty parts on these is a bit fiddly and as the boiler has a positive pressure chamber should only be fitted by qualified engineer.
A bypass on a 3 port system is only required if ALL rads have trv's fitted.
