POTTERTON CONTROLS EP2002 BOILER CONTROL FROZEN

The time on the clock has frozen at 9:03 pm.
The central heating switch is showing as being on ,but the hot water switch is not on.
It appears that the box has frozen.
Does anyone have ideas as to why the clock and the box has frozen up.
The hot water will not switch on and the heating is showing as being permanently on.
I have switched off the socket next to it but the whole box still remains frozen.

apparently its rather common for these to lock up, the general consensus is to power it off and remove the battery, refit the battery and power it back up.

Do a search, there is two buttons you press to reset controller cant remember which 2
