I have switched the power off to the heating system and when I switched it back on the EP2001 programmer now has a blank display, the CH light is on and none of the buttons work.

I think that the unit is dead but did think about changing the battery. My plumbing merchant has told me its £17 for a new battery and £44 for a replacement EP20002.

Does anyone know how likely it is that the the battery would cause this fault.

I would have thought that the battery is only there to provide a backup for the timer settings should there be a power cut and therefore not effect the timer if there is power to it. Mrs Blarm tells me that this has not been happening as she has had to reset the settings after the last couple of power cuts. So the battery has proably not been recharging itself for a year or so.

Also, I have had a look on line and can get an EP6002 that has indepedent timer settings for the heating and hot water for the same price as the EP2002. Would the EP6002 be a better buy and if so why then would anyone buy the EP2002 with less features for the same price.

Thanks,

Bill
