That is the reason why we call these systems open vent, mention the word gravity and people set programmers to gravity, which as you well know is wrong, just a way of letting people know what you actually have mate, wasnt being critical in any way

4 to CH NC

No that is wrong you wont need anything connected to CH NC , you will however need a wire connected to HW off

OK so 1 to HW NO

And how about HW NC as per the Tado instruction?

So I’m guessing that the HW NC connection is for the wired thermostat (PR2) which isn’t needed so I can replace with Tado thermostat..?

NC means normally closed which would equate to off.
NO means normally open or on
So 1 on the potterton would go to HW NC (HW off)
3 to HW NO (HW on)
And 4 to CH NO (CH on)
The opposite of what you put before.

As per - “3 to HW NO (HW on)”

3 from the EP = CH OFF ? So just wondering how you have it going to HW NO as you said it
was ON when you have HW On in brackets

Should the wiring not be as such-

1 to HW NC (HW Off)
3 to CH NC (CH Off)
4 to CH NO (CH On)

If you look at the picture stem posted and follow the lines you will see that 2 is CH off (which is very rarely used) and 3 is actually CH on.

Got the Tado receiver wired up and working.

Both CH and HW working independently too.
