potterton fan faulty?

thank you Tony,

the PCB was changed around 2006. boiler is Suprima 50.

not sure if the PCB is a newer version of PCB. how can I find out what version of PCB?

I suspect you have the older type , the newer type had the PCB incased in a white plastic box with different type thermostat/overheat facia panel , GC#/appliance details SHOULD be hand written on front panel...................yea right.

thank you gasafengineer. from your reply, I think that mine may be a newer version. because:

1) the GC# is hand written on the front panel.
2) When I open the PCB casing, I can see that the PCB is enclosed in a box. all wires are plugged in from the top of the box.
3) there is only one light on front panel

if this is a newer version, may not be the latest model. what do you think?

That does sound like the newer version which also has an orange led, the old board just had two leds red and green.

The new board kit is about the £200 range however I would change both the primary NTC and OH stat on yours first as these are relatively low cost at about £15 each.

However you have to check which fault lights are flashing if you have the new board as these tell you what the problem may be either with the boiler or with the controls connected to it.

Whilst Tony could change those parts, because they are in the combustion chamber thats not DIY job and should be done by a gas engineer.

The new PCBs dont fail very often. But I did find one strangely on the pavement near home a few days ago.

Tony

one and half pages of nonsense and tonybhoy finally asks which lights are flashing.

well done chaps.

Thats not surprising as the OP had given the impression that it was the older PCB that had been fitted.

On account of the cost I used to fit the old type for as long as I could find them to buy.

that could have been cleared up in one post if someone had asked the right questions.

thanks tony, I will certainly look to change them. do you the model number handy for both NTC and OH stat ?

As my boiler has only one light combining red and green. when it is flashing, it is the RED or Orange light.

that was my fault, did not know what to start my diagnosing the problem.
