Potterton Suprima 50 shower recommendation

Hi,

I’ve moved into a house where the boiler is a Potterton Suprima 50. I’m looking for some electric shower recommendations as there isn’t one currently installed. I’m not sure exactly whether or not this boiler is a combi-boiler, could someone please confirm? Also, I noticed a red light lit on the boiler, but no green – is this normal? The heating (so far) is absolutely fine, though hot water doesn’t seem to last very long. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Jennifer

If you've a Suprima that works properly (ie. the rads get warm and hot water comes out of the taps) carry on speaking quietly and politely to it and keep your fingers crossed. You have quite an unusual Suprima - one with no problems!

The hot water will come from a cylinder somewhere (linen cupboard?). The small volume available may be because it's a small cylinder, or maybe its half-full of limescale.

An 'electric' shower (do you mean 'electrically heated'?) has nothing to do with the boiler. A POWER shower (ie. one with a pump but using hot water from the cylinder can be done but if you're already short of hot water, you'll probably need a new / bigger cylinder.

Hiya,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was talking about an electric shower. I don't leave the hot water on constantly, only for a couple of hours at a time - would this explain why it doesn't last long? Do you know if this model of boiler is a combi?

Thanks again,
Jennifer

Hi Kev,

I'm looking to buy an electric shower and I've spotted a Triton one I fancy, but it states:

* Suitable for combi boiler systems which can fit any any electric shower or any mixer shower showing

* Suitable for use with a high pressure or pressurised system

Seeing as my boiler isn't a combi, would this shower unit function properly in my bathroom?

Thanks,
Jen

Hiya Kev,

Unit is the Triton Bewitch Electric Shower 10.5Kw.

If this one isn't going to work, could you please advise a model that would?

Thanks,
Jennifer

Thanks Kev,

One more question if you don't mind

This is difficult to explain, but I'll try my best. There is no wall directly against my bath taps, just a row of tiling and then the window, so the shower will need to be installed at the other side of the bath - will the wall need to be knocked in big style for the instllation?

Thanks again,
Jennifer
