Firstly, thanks for the part numbers for the insulation and rope part numbers following my post last week. Have now got them in my grubby mits!! Sabre systems got them in in 4 days - plus a lovely brush to clean out the flue.

New question (as it doesn't seem obvious) - how do I attach the new rope seal to the combustion chamber cover plate? Old one is squashed and flat so needs removing, but appears to be stuck somehow (perhaps it wasn't originally but has formed a bond over time) - how do I get it to stay in place?

Do I semi screw on the cover plate with the rope in place and position as I tighten the bolts? Or is there some compound i need to use.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Sally.

The answer does seem obvious - YOU don't attach it.
To do this sort of work you have to be COMPETENT by law and common sense. Combustion chamber seals are important and you have to be able to test them.
YOu'll need to call a Corgi person in.
