Hi all,

First time on here but looking to contribute regularly......be gentle!

I have a the above boiler where it won't ignite. Error code says fan lockout however I'm not so sure.

The boiler clicks and for a minute as though attempting to kick in, but the fan or ignition don't start.

Upon taking the cover off I can hear a buzzing noise within the pcb as though it is arcing. I have unplugged this and taken out two screws from the pcb cover.....however it still seems attached at the bottom and I can't tell by looking down the holes (they are very small and long) if there is rivits securing the cover at the bottom. I'm wary of just pulling it apart and breaking something if there is something you experienced guys know?

Just literally want to have a look at the pcb and see if there is anything obvious so I can just buy a new one

Thanks loads for any help

The fan and PCB on these operate at 325vDC you shouldnt be messing with that if you do not know what you are doing, also you should read the forum rules before posting

Hi both. Fully isolated. I literally want to take the cover off the pcb to see if any obvious areas of arcing. I won't be trying to solder/ fix myself

I didn't read the forum rules before posting

Thanks

very seldom that PCbs show visual signs of failure, some do but certainly not the norm

You should have an experienced and registered gas fitter check it over. Seriously, I'm impressed that you know when to stop without breaking something (else), but if you're not going to try a diy repair why risk breaking it more?
If it needs a pcb then let the gas fitter fit it, then you can mull over the old pcb to your hearts desire from a position of warmth and safety, marvelling at the loose connection pins and dry joints.
The 26-9 regulations state the legal responsibilities of the gas fitter after doing any work on your boiler. Other regulations legally forbid an unregistered person (you?) from doing any work on your boiler (and others).
Taking off the combustion box cover is doing work, ie interfering with the gas/flue system.
