I have searched through the Forum and: firstly, I know enough not to take this boiler apart, and secondly I know that I will have to replace it soon as it is bad!
However, is there any short term hope for the boiler?
I have had an intermittent problem, which I fear is now permanent. It stops distributing heat and turns itself off
If the Boiler is cold enough it fires up, then after a few minutes turns itself off. The Hot Water tank is left cold as are the radiators, however, the F&E tank is warm to hot. Occassionally, the is a very strange noise (apparently from the loft) which I thought was a bird stuck in the eaves/loft. However, there was/is no sign of birds and I have noticed the noise is occurring when the boiler turns itself off. The noise is worrying me, and I am concerned (in a lowish probablility high impact sort of way) that the boiler may blow up.
Previous times this problem (of it not working) has been resolved by draining/refilling the system and a fixing a loose electrical connection in the timer. The noise is a very recent thing.
Is there anything I can do in the short term to keep it working? (Please note I am not CORGI, but know enough to know what not to touch/do.)
Thanks in advance.
