the problem is this boiler lights ok but then cycles through the ignition.lighting the burner then turning off,then lighting again all with the click which sounds like something turning in a tumble drier.i suspect main board but thought i would ask first.

Two posts about the same boiler?If you are Gassafe registered then you will know that these boilers in the wrong hands are potentially dangerous and very few people will give advice on an open forum as to how to fix them.

If i could ever get through to potterton tec would they say the same?sorry mate we cant advise you on how to fix this boiler.

No, who mentioned a new boiler? I certainly didn't.Once you get on to the CC there are plenty of good blokes there who will give you the correct advice on this boiler.To give out tech info on the open forum would de encouraging diyers to tamper with a potentially(in the wrong hands)dangerous boiler.

Nobody suggested that. Its a simple repair, but many diyers will own this boiler, and due to it's design, we can't give advise. - it's the most dangerous boiler ever built.

You know that for a fact? If so, its 25 years old at least. Most teccy guys / gals at potty were not born then this boiler was built.

Personally, I'd have that fixed by now. Excluding the PCB (which is unlikely judging by your initial post), you have one one item the the CC that may want looking at.

If you are a parts changer, shove a PCB on it (you don't need to open up the CC for that) and try it. You'll learn nothing about how the boiler works, but may fix it.

Kev does not even know his own Gas Safe number! Its actually 509325 !

He has also made another post saying he has a Linea boiler malfunctioning.

The clear advice is to post your questions in the Combustion Chamber and to make it clear that these are NOT your own boilers but that you are trying to repair them for customers.

In my view you should stay clear of difficult boilers like the Netaheat.
