Potterton Netaheat Noisy When burners go out.

Can anybody tell me about this problem.

The boiler seems to be working fine it gives off plenty hot water, radiators heat up fine. Just now its set up just for hot water. The problems is when the burners go out we are getting a strange whooshing noise from the boiler. Its like a rush of water pressure being released. It tails off like when your toilet fills up after filling. It maybe does this twice then won't do it again untill after the burners have been on again. Anybody know what this is and how to fix it.

Could be that the boiler heat exchanger is overheating. Difficult to say without hearing noise. Does it get worse or better according to which thermostat setting you use?

doesn't really effect it what setting its at maybe slightly worse when lower. Mate says it maybe kettling.

I would expect kettling or overheating noises to be worse with a higher thermostat setting, so what you say doesn't fit with that. Can't think of anything else off hand.

is there not a pump overun on these beasts i seem to recall

Just checked instructions for Netaheat Mk II. 16/22 model has pump overrun, 10/16 model does not. Which model do you have? And if 16/22, does pump continue running after flames extinguish?

I know exactly t he noise you mean, it's a bit alarming. My MkIIF does it occasionally. It sounds like water hitting an overheated h/e, but I don't really understand it!

Sorry for not getting back sooner,

Im not sure what model this is because we dont have any litreature. Just what it says on it.

The pump does continue to run after the burners go out, I think.

Chris - Has this been happening a while with you and have you had any other bother because of it i.e is it something to worry about short term/long term.
