Hi all,

I'm experiencing some intermittent problems with my Potterton Perform 30 HE. If anyone could advise me if this is an easy fix for myself or if I need an expert for the job, it would be appreciated...

1. Around 50% of the time I turn on a hot tap, it only runs cold. Sometimes it gets warm for a few moments (less than 1 minute) and then gets cold again. When looking at the boiler, the furthest right neon flashes, which according to the manual means 'Fault on Central Heating Sensor'.

2. Even when the thermostat is for the central heating is turned right down, the central heating has been coming on, at what seem to be random times. This has problem happened 5 times over the past fortnight. However, as with the hot water problem, the central heating also doesn't always get to full temperature and the same error code shows when the burner seems to go out.

3. I did notice once when trying to reset the boiler and playing around with the hot tap, that another error code showed. However, this was only once.

4. When I turn the central heating off at the box where I can set on/off times, the problem seems less so.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Adam

Kill 2 or 3 birds with one stone. Find yourself a local repair specialist, tell him what the symptoms are, and get him to fix it, service the boiler, and check the whole system over whilst he is there. You probably have more than one thing not working properly, and the boiler should be serviced any way.
