Visited the above six year old boiler on my way home tonight so didn't have much time to spend on it. Boiler won't fire (though customer says it does occasionaly). Pump runs but fan 'hunts' (slow/fast/slow/fast) APS appears ok. No gas at burner. Any ideas would be appreciated as I can't face ringing Potterton tomorrow.

New PCB is needed, i think.

Did you check the PCB for dry joints and scorching?

What lights are flashing on the front when it fails?

I agree about 'phoning baxi/potterton, if you phone the same fault in three days in a row you will get 3 completely different diagnosis depending on who you get the other end of the 'phone. They will all rubbish the previous ones diagnosis

Thanks for your rapid replies. The fan light is lit. Forgot to mention I've checked the venturi and the pressure tubes. The flue is also clear.

Have you checked the APS for contact resistance in the NO/NC positions?

Tony

Thanks for all your replies. New PCB was indeed needed. Spent 35 mins on hold waiting for Potterton technical.
