Potterton Profile 60E - hot water turns on heating

Hi Everyone
I need some advice, I have quiet an old boiler Potterton Profile 60e with water tank upstairs. Its been a year now since one of the issue started

When I turn on heating, it works absolutely fine, no issues
When I turn on hot water, it will turn on heating but if I turn it off from mains and then turn on hot water, it will turn on hot water
Some times even turning off from mains doesn’t fix the issue and hot water will turn on heating. When I realise that heating is switched on. I will turn it off again from mains and then it will heat up the water.

Any ideas what it could be? I know its an old boiler so im thinking shall i replace it for another boiler?

This boiler has served me well in all honesty. Never broken down in 20 years!

It sounds more like a motorised valve issue. Do you have a 3 port valve? - have a look in the cylinder cupboard

Yes, just had a look. I do have a 3 port valve. Had a quick look on youtube on how to test it. I will see if this is faulty

Hi All
Just an update, motorised valve is faulty. The actual synchron motor. Doesn’t seem like a big job but rather than ordering the whole unit. I have ordered the small synchron motor. A bit fiddly to remove it along with the two cables but simple enough

Should hardly take 15 minutes to replace the motor!

But the two screws are easy to drop and need a sheet spread underneath to catch the screws!
