I have a 13 year old Puma 80e which six months ago stopping supplying hot water unless the heating was on and had been for at least half an hour. I had an engineer look at it, but they couldn't work out what was wrong - at one point it stopped working completely. They then looked at it some more and changed the Pressure Switch and all seemed ok but they weren't actually sure if that was what made it work or not.

I now however have the following problems;

Number 1 - Now I've had to put the heating back on it has again stopped providing hot water unless the heating is turned on.

If I don’t have the heating on - when I turn on the hot water the boiler fires up and the Pilot Light comes on and the water comes out hot, then the Pilot Light will go on and off so the water then goes luke warm for a bit and then cold and back to luke warm etc before finally just running cold.

Number 2 - When I turn the heating on the boiler fires up and the Pilot Light comes on then goes off for a few seconds then comes back on again, not sure if this actually a problem or this is normal and I just never noticed it before.

Number 3 - When the heating is on, once the radiators are warm the boiler then starts making a horrible high pitched noise. If I then turn the hot tape on the noise will disappear until the tap is turned off. If I turn the heating off the boiler will continue to make the noise for a few minutes until it appears to cool down.

Anyone any ideas on what might be causing any of the above?

Sure, lack of attention by anyone who has a clue what he's doing!
It would be normal to check at least:
Temp sensors/thermostats
pcb
diverter valve
gas valve pressures
hard water?
flow switch

This model has known issues with various parts so hard to tell what causes the intermittent fault. It might be helpful to call the last engineer who serviced the boiler and ask him if he noticed anything that might be on the way out
