Potterton suprima 50 red light

i have a suprima 50 that tries to start up then shows a constant red light when it first starts up when the programme calls for heat/hot water.

when i press the reset the boiler starts up and continues working for the rest of the programme duration.

i am a qualified sparks so looking for any pointers where to start,i know its an old boiler but just trying to nurse it though until i can afford to get it changed.

Are you sure it’s solid light? Normal operation according to the manual

One LED or two? Newer PCBs only have a single, multi colour, LED.

On newer PCB hold reset button in for 10 seconds and count the flashes - 5=overheat, 2=ignition failure

one LED.if i hold the reset in it restarts ok but i will try that next time it plays up.

ok,it went to solid red and i held in the reset for a while but it didnt do an LED count just went into boiler start when i released it.

its also been a hash how it was wired up,the boiler only gets a live feed one the port valve actuator has moved over so the pump is not fed from the boiler either.As no bypass was fitted it has to stay like that.
