One can but guess, but since the aluminium on HMS Sheffield not only melted by also burnt (or should it be burned?), I can but presume that's what he was getting at. As for his subsequent posts, "IHNI", either !

Maybe an appropriate grade of stainless steel would satisfy both of your viewpoints? :-)
