I've just bought the parents a concrete birdbath as they enjoy the wildlife in the garden (nice son aren't i)
we filled it up and the next day all the water had gone but the pedestal was wet?
after a couple of days i noticed drips from under the bath part so it appears to be leaking - pourus concrete?
Do i use a pva on the inside of the bath to seal it or is there any other clear solution (tried silicon on the underside but it didn't work)

try thompsons waterseal for brickwork etc. Although you'd need lots of coats and it may just slow down the release.

i'll try the waterseal and hope it works, don't want it painting with a colour as i want it natural stone colour

Unless you bought it second hand why don't you just take it back? Its clearly not fit for purpose!

It was bought quite a distance away when i was on a day out, it cost £30 which is less than the fuel would be to return it

maybe try a water-gardening supplier? You can buy sealing paint (dries translucent) for concrete ponds which should probably also be safe for other wildlife.

I make fountains and bird baths and I use patio sealer to seal them and it does the trick. and its clear. 8)

Thanks for the help, i've just sent off for some Liberon Path & Patio Sealer - hope it works :)

i have a bird bath that has a crack in it... is there an easy way to seal that?

Get some sand and cement and make a small neat mix and fill the crack with your finger and rub it in then seal it with patio sealer and I think it should do the trick.
