our son just moved into a new house with attached granny flat I note that the power for the granny flat is from the main house cu, the power run,s from the white box outside the house into the rcd of the cu and then another cable comes out of the rcd (doubled-up) to another cu in the granny flat. seems wrong to me?

doesn't seem right i agree

what type of cable is used to link to the granny flat
twin and earth?
tails?
steel wire armoured?
minaral insulated coper clad (pyro)?

what size is the cable?
how long is the cable?
is the granny flat attached to the house or is it a seperate building?
what earthing system does the house have?

photos of the meter box and both cus (prefferablly with the lids off the CUs) would be helpfull

what distance is the granny flat away from the house?
Is the cable buried or visable overhead or just resting at the side of a path. (daft i know but i purchased a house 3 years ago with wire just on the side of the path)
