I need to power up my shed,

1 double socket - light hand tools
1 light

I have an old consumer unit with no room.

I would like to spur a length of cable to the shed put a circuit breaker in the shed and create what is known as a sub circuit.

Is this OK?

Thanks for any advise.

How far away is the shed, what route will the cable need to take, and does the circuit from which you will be spurring have RCD protection?

The shed is 10 meters from house. The cable would be going in a straight line under the garden from back door under the floorboards which is where i would take the spur from. The circuit is really old and does not RCD as far as I know.

Many Thanks.

try a search for power to shed, power to outside, power to outbuilding etc, this topic has really been done to the death
