The other day I drained down a Powermax 185 thermal store boiler, to fit TRV's and to remove any rubbish within the system. When I then re-filled the system it took ages, about 3 hours to completely fill.

Is this right ? Initially water quickly ran from the cold feed, but then it seemed to slowly fill, and took about 3 hours before it seemed to be completely full. I added some inhibitor (1 litre bottle), but do I need a double dose in a system like this which seems to hold so much water ? Also, wanted to add some boiler noise reducer at the same time.

Any thoughts ?

By the way I recently re-routed the cold feed from the F&E tank into the boiler itself recently, as it got blocked and was badly routed anyway.
