I am about to install this in a shop of mine, however there is just one issue...

The plug will be cut off and be wired into a fused spur, and on looking at the control panel, the battery compartment is on the front. What would happen if the mains was disconnected, and an intruder disconnected the battery? Is it tamper protected or something?

I ask, as the control panel will be used for arming and disarming via the on-board keypad.

many thanks

I wouldnt be woried about that too much, I assume you are using the voice dialler ? I think it should call you in the event of an mains fail.

I would hide the panel out of site as this is the brains of the system & an intruder could rip it off the wall before it dials out. Also program a Bell Delay of 2 Mins this will allow the panel enough time to transmit a message before its smashed up :)

Why not hide the panel use the keyfobs ( I assume your just saving money by not using them)

Design the system to activate and have enough time for the panel to dial out before being found.

Also having the panel in full view will allow others to see the codes inserted.

So stop being tight, it is your shop after all.

As an afterthought. Was this a purchase after an event?

Quite simply there is nowhere to hide the panel. The shop is boxed shaped with a suspended ceiling, no fixed cupboards etc. If the panel was in the ceiling:

a) the event log cannot be read without 6ft ladders (this is important for me)
b) The panel cannot be heard i.e. the talking voice, without alerting the whole street that the system is arming
c) It gets very hot up there

I'm not using the panel to dial out.

The panel isn't in full view, you sort of walk in and then come back on yourself to get access

Why on earth you can accuse me of being tight without knowing the circumstances is just down right rude.

There will be 8 people who have access to the system, and I aren't going to spend over £150 on keyfobs, when there is a simpler solution. And after asking staff and friends who have access to the shop, they all prefer a code than a fob, as they are awkward to carry around in your pocket.

What do you do if a fob is lost or stolen? Staff cant gain access. And if Mr Burglar knows where your shop is, your screwed. I mean, walk down the street, pressing the disarm button, and look for the beeping siren!

The system was put in because I felt one was required. No burglaries have occurred, if that's what you mean.

Your going to be installing a bells only alarm on a shop :?:

What is your shop selling ?

I assume you have a telephone line ? I would at least connect it to the phone line so it calls you if activated. Its built into the panel so it doesnt cost any extra apart from phone calls of course. Who responds to an alarm sounder these days apart from other looters

You can also get a 2 way wireless LCD keypad so you could install panel in the roof & have the LCD keypad by the front door. It mimics all the sounds from the control panel.

It can be read via the software, but are you spying on staff/family members? It does need to be notified,

b) The panel cannot be heard i.e. the talking voice, without alerting the whole street that the system is arming
Lower the volume, turn it off, read the manual
c) It gets very hot up there
And?

I'm not using the panel to dial out.
Waste of money then, as it can do this.

The panel isn't in full view, you sort of walk in and then come back on yourself to get access
But it will "alert" its position, see above

Why on earth you can accuse me of being tight without knowing the circumstances is just down right rude.
30 years of experience says your being tight and trying to save 50p to protect thousands, if your situation is true

Then you have misread the way the system works, and if that many people have access your in dire need of something far better than the good system your bad mouthing.

So dickheads dont forget codes? If they lose a fob they deserve to be sacked especially if they have the address attached to it. That old argument. Lost fob, same as your car is it not, drop it and the "thief" presses it until the car screams out. BUT, as you MENTION the system mentioned does not BLEEP at you when disarmed, unlike a Yale system. So again your wrong

.Really, actually I bet there has not been, staff theft more like, and your worried its a family member.
