Hi,

Not sure whether this is the correct place to ask a question about conservatory bases but here goes...

We are looking at replacing the dwarf wall victorian style conservatory installed by the previous owners with one with a glass roof. In all honesty, although the conservatory was 'professionally' installed, I can't say I've been impressed with the quality.

I've started to have a look around at the options and noticed that dwarf walls are usually constructed onto a standard foundation strip. On our conservatory, it looks like the dwarf wall has been installed onto an off-site pre-cast concrete slab, which has been constructed on to some concrete pier type footings (I don't know how deep they go, etc).

Obviously my major concern is whether this 'quick' base construction would be suitable for the additional weight of a conservatory and glass roof, particularly given the safety implications.

I can't seem to find anything on the web about this type of conservatory base, so wondered if anyone has any views.

Many thanks,

Damian

IIRC, these are steel framed off pads?

Google Durabase or something like " quickbase conservatory base "

Hi,

They don't appear to be steel framed at all, just 1m-2m pre-cast slabs on concrete pads.

All looks very cheap to me, the only problem is that I recently constructed decking and new sandstone paving around the conservatory, so completely starting again with a base and dwarf wall would be a disaster!

Thanks,

Damian

OK. Its the same principle. They also come in concrete (like block and beam floors) and even in recycled plastic beams.

Generally they can take a low wall and DG frames/roof
