Further to my earlier post regarding exterior painting of my house, I have now burnt off the masonary paint from the window sills and mullions on the front of the house.
The majority of the stone work is in good condition but there are a few areas where the sandstone has deteriorated and the stone is crumbly as shown in the pictures below.
I am considering the following course of action, firstly to treat the damaged areas with Toupret penetrating stabilising hardener, and then to fill the damaged areas with Touprelith F exterior filler.
Does that sound ok? or are there other products which would be better?
Also, once the damaged areas have been sorted, is there any need to apply stabilising solution to the sound stonework prior to painting or can the masonary paint be applied direct to the bare stonework?
