Hi,

Our builder has just completed rendering the outside of our terraced house. We now wish to prepare the wall and then paint it. Can anyone advise me on what preparation I need to buy, what type of paint and how many coats are required. Also some of the pre-existing rendering is still in place with stubborn paint still stuck to it. Can we simply paint over it

thanks in advance

It will just need a good stiff brushing down to remove any of the lose grains on the surface, then painting with smooth masonry paint...if you use a trade one thin the first coat by 15%....this will act like a mist coat.

The apply the others striaght form the tin...you may only need to do one full ocat but from experience it will porobably be two full coats after the first.

As for the paint thats still on there just just it a scrape to remove to lose then paint as nomal, but you wont need to thin the first coat down
