Hi All - I built up my garden borders with compost for my summer bedding plants, but now the season is coming to a close and lifting my expended plants. The borders now seem to be a mass of old rootings. How should I prepare the borders for my winter wallflowers and pansies?
Cheers

I would probably dig them over with a fork, removing any rootings that come up. Then dig over with a spade mixing in some fertiliser/compost. Finally rake level and plant out when the time is right for your plants.

I'm sure someone else may come along and suggest an easier method but thats all I can think of at the moment.
