preparing walls etc

i have removed all the plaster in my 1920s terrace house ready for the builders to come in.

some walls are breeze blocks (internal) and some are brick (external).

how should i prepair them now? PVA? if so what mix?

I would leave well alone except for cleaning off loose material and removing nails, screws etc, the builder/plasterer will know what to do, if anything.
