I've seen some threads about prepping and have tried to research as much as I can, but I'm still a bit stuck.
House built 2001. When we moved in, it had paint on walls from the builders. We subsequently had it wallpapered That's been on 20 years. We've stripped that quite easily (peeled top layer, sponged, the rest came off clean). Very little paint came away.
I've painted the majority of the room, and I'm trying to wallpaper one wall with paste the wall adhesive.
I got a couple of sheets on. When I lifted to reposition, I found that the paint was bubbling and coming away with the paper. The walls appear to be plasterboard underneath. There is a plaster or compound skimmed in places. That's only where the paint has lifted and I can see. Pictures attached.
What to do? Is there a way to seal and stabilise this or do I need to get the paint off and then perhaps mist coat, paint or apply another sealer?
I'm not that familiar with this stuff, but happy to read up further if pointed in the right direction. So if anyone can point me towards method(s) and any specific products that would be awesome.
Thank-you
Stuart
