I'm aware that cast iron tubs can be 're-enameled', but can this be done to new bathtubs?
I want to keep this going for as long as possible because it is 'heavily installed' i.e. there no way to replace it without taking out a load of porcelain tiles.

I'm a bit concerned that someone might drop a bottle of aftershave/showerhead on it and crack it etc... so for that eventuality what the prognosis for repairing it. I'm assuming it would be something akin to repairing bodywork of fibreglass sports cars?

thanks

I would be surprised. I have one, largely because I can't be a7sed to change it for a real bath.

I recently installed a blending valve ('cos I can't be a7sed to mix my bath water ;)). It was scary how thin these things actually are. I often worry aqbout the creeking noise I get when I stand in these things for showers.

The surface is fairly resilient, but I wouldn't spend a penny on preserving one. Tiling is not that expensive by comparison.
