I have a ferroli boiler and the pressure has slowly climbed from one upto four and when it is on now stands at 6 which is max so I have turned it off. I have called out the plumber but have to wait and its freezing. Is there anything simple that needs to be done?? Thanks

You could bleed the excess pressure from a radiator, make sure you have the filling loop turned fully off and then make sure nobody has capped your pressure relief outlet before you turn it back on.

If its really at 6 bar you may have a serious problem that requires the attention of a repair engineer.

Oilski could be spot on in what he says but if someone has been stupid enough to cap off your pressure release pipe what other dangers are lurking?
A dangerous Steam incident could be on the cards and you did right to turn it off.Steam incidents with combis are one in a million but dont be THE ONE.
If you are tempted as he suggests to let some pressure out then watch that guage like a hawk if you want to risk running the boiler.

Lets see if we can put the risk into perspective.
Water under only 3 bar pressure can reach 143.5ºC if one or more certain other faults occur in your boiler.
If a part of your system burst under this heat and pressure just 1 of the many litres of water in your system would turn into 1600 litres of steam in a flash turning you into a dizzyb555 steamy roast!
