Pressure from power shower playing up

Hello - wonder if any of you could help

The hose on my power shower broke the other day, so I bought a new one. It looked exactly the same, yet when I installed it an insufficient amount of water came out of the shower head.

So I unattached the hose and turned the shower on and the water came out from the unit at a fairly weak rate (although seemingly not as weak as what came out of the shower head). Yet after a minute the pressure would build up and the water would burst out as it is clearly meant to. Unfortunately, if I then reattach the hose, the pressure immediately drops again.

Any ideas about what I can do?

sounds like you have a flow problem if the hose is on or not.

I'm sorry if I dont give the right information - I'm a pensioner who, you may be surprised to know, a) is pretty knew to the internet and b) hasnt got a clue about plumbing, and given how much money I've got, and how much I've forked out for plumbers in the past few years, I was just hoping to see if there's a cheaper alternative.

I will go and look to see if I can find the make of the shower, but I know it isnt manufactured any more as the plumber told me that the last time something went wrong with it

I'm not an expert on these things. Is the problem due to trapped air in the hot water cylinder causing an erratic flow of water? Does the pipe work include a surrey flange in the top of the hot water cylinder to eliminate air? Power showers need a dedicated outlet from cold water cylinder to prevent water starvation. Also does your shower have a built in pump or a separate double impeller pump...If you use a double impeller pump, one of the experts out there could confirm whether this should use a 22mm diameter pipe rather than 15mm.
