New shower / hose not quite up to previous power.

I had to change the rail on my shower as the hanger was knackered, i bought a new rail which also had a new shower head and hose. After i fitted the new hose/head/rail i noticed the power didn't seem as good as before, the hose is longer than the last one, in the pack with the new hose was 2 flow restrictor type things to go in the hose connector, it said they were for either high or low pressure areas, as i don't know what is classed as high pressure or not, i left them out. For sure if i lower the shower head to the floor level then the pressure comes right up so i don't know if there is an air lock in there, hose too long or whether one of these flow restictor type things need to go in. Maybe should look to fitting a booster pump in the system

Check the internal diameter of the new hose.....a replacement that is intended for an electric shower will have very poor performance on a gravity one.

Shower hose internal diameter does not seem to be well documented.

While servicing a boiler I was asked to see why some showers were poor.

I found that the three hoses were all different diameters inside.

May be something to do with the hose, the more i move the shower head up the rail, the less pressure i get ( as you would expect ), but i stand in the showter at 6ft and get no water out of the shower head. The hose is a fair bit longer which must make a fair bit of difference because the point at which the water turns the corner at the bottom of the bend in the hose, it then has more hydrostatic head working against the gravity system. I have checked the tank in the loft and that is still full so that is good as the ballcock had stuck out before and the tank ran dry, there is ample hot water coming out of the normal taps so hot water tank is ok, think will have to try a shorter hose and will check the ID.

I did as Charnwood suggested and stuck the old shorter hose on and certainly alot better for some reason, only a foot shorter and ID looked about the same, wife a bit happier anyway.
