Hi,

I'm in the middle of renovating my flat. All the wood work is gloss which has yellowed badly, made worse by the previous owner having smoked heavily. I've spent weeks sanding all the paint work back pretty hard (to bare wood in patches) and now want to apply apply water based Sikkens Rubbol BL Satura (already bought).

My question is what primer/undercoat should I use, and do I need to apply a full coat or just patch up the bare wood?
I was looking at Leyland Trade Acrylic Primer, but could go with something like Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 (although this is twice the price!)

Many thanks.

Spot priming the bare timber with the leyland will be fine, when dry give it a light sand.
