Priming before vinyl tiles?

Hello All,

I am sticking self-adhesive floor tiles to MDF. The instructions recommend priming any porous substrate and chipboard and ply are mentioned but not MDF.

Can anyone tell me whether it needs to be primed and if so, with what. PVA I presume.
