Private building inspector

Evening all,

In the last couple of years we have done some major works to our house including a loft conversion and rear extension.

We used a private building inspector for both jobs, started the loft and all was good he part signed it off as we was redecorating the entire house and wanted to do the fire doors last.

So fast forward a year extension all done, fire doors all in house finished building inspector had been around during the construction so is happy with what is done. Now I am looking to get it all signed off to the LA and he is not ansrewing my mails numerous calls texts etc.

Bit stuck now as now not sure what to do, can I change inspectors? I must add no money has passed hands so I haven’t been knocked.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Is it possible that, for whatever reason, he forgot to notify the LA at the start of the work and before he did the inspection? (AIs are supposed to give the LA a minimum 5 days notice before inspecting).
Seems odd that he has not asked at least for a deposit.
Have you rung the LA to check yourself whether or not they were notified?
As the work is completed, I doubt any other AI will be able/allowed to get involved.Y ou may have to go through the LA using the regularization procedure, = £££s

Yes I have checked they were notified, yeah it’s very strange you would think they would want to get paid.
