Problem replacing badge on Golf MK5

Hi

Some ###stole my badge. I bought another on EBay but am struggling to fit. I wonder whether this is due to the grill behind now being broken. I've provided photos below.

I've tried twisting into position but no joy.

I think you could well need a new grille to get things perfect here as the chrome badge bit turns about 10 degrees to lock it in......you could try some work with a hot glue gun though, fixing the grille first if that's satisfactory to you.

Just can't work out whether plastic is broken or not. Tried to twist it but will have another go. Didn't want to risk superglue!

The bottom edge of the hole looks broken.. that may be stopping it securing into place?
You could try using glue to fix the grille first. then when dry, try fitting the badge.

Do you think it's only damaged where its separated a bit at the bottom? It just looks like the edge on the left hand dude may be damaged as well (not sure if that's supposed to look same as edge on right side?)
