Problem replacing multipoint lock on upvc door

Need to replace the lock on a upvc door to the garden.
I can see that the lock is attached by screws to the mechanism so started removing the mechanism from the door but have been stopped by the rubber door seal - can't get it past it. Photo attached.
Is there a trick to this? Or does the seal have to be cut out and replaced ( no idea how to so this if this is the case).
Any insights gratefully received.

No you just need to manipulate the mechanism past the rubber, it went in so it comes out

Ok, I tried that but didn't seem possible, maybe I was too tentative. I will have another go armed with your advice.
