HI hope someone can help me.
I recently had a ceiling replastered and the guy who did the job moved the sensor and dislodged the wiring in the sensor i was unaware of this as i was at work and he said nothing to my partner, he just put the sensor back. we only noticed a problem when the alarm had to be set and the sensor wasnt working, i checked the sensor saw that 2 of the wires had come loose and when i went to put them back in i touched another terminal and short circuited the system. I rang the guy that installed the alarm explained to him what happened and he said i had blown a fuse in the main box.i arranged a time for him to come and fix it he didnt turn up, contacted him again arranged another time again he didnt turn up so im well peed off with this guy so ive opened the main box (think this is a job i can do meself) and see that there are 3 fuses as im looking at the box in the top left corner there is a 1 amp fuse next to a terminal block with the word keypad next to it, towards the bottom left corner above the 240 v mains in/transformer there are 2 ,1.6 amp fuses the one on left marked strobe/bell the one on right marked battery .So before i remove/check /replace these fuses do i need to disconnect the supply from the mains and disconnect the battery? there is no seperate fuse/circuit for the mains supply i think its wired into either the ring main or one of the lighting circuits some help will be greatly appreciated.
cheers Kingeric.

There should be a fused spur unit close by, if not then turn the whole house supply off,do not work on live equipment. If your battery is in good condition , the alarm should carry on working.Open the panel (internal alarm will sound, silence with user code), replace blown fuse , if you are lucky there is usually a spare within the case, close panel , turn on mains and press RESET.
