Hi newbie here.

I have been given a second hand but little used Altech 50 shower pump to replace my old Easiboost pump which finally died after 8 years of good trouble free service. Both pumps are twin impeller pumps made by the same manufacturer, Bristan, and are basically the same design, I have seen one called the Varispeed 50 which looks to be the same also.
The (nearly) new Altech pump worked perfectly in its last home from where it was removed due to a combi boiler being fitted.
I have fitted the Altech 50 pump by simply connecting the pipes the same as they were on my previous pump. When I open the shower mixer valve the pump kicks in and starts working but all I get is cold water, no hot water is getting to the shower head.
There is definitely a hot water supply to the pump because if I pull away the push-fit fitting from the hot water inlet hot water comes gushing out of the pipe.
One thing I have to mention is that when I installed the pump I initially connected the hoses for hot water in and hot water out the wrong way round. I ran the pump like this for about a minute before spotting the mistake and swapping them the right way round - could this have caused some damage?
If I close the stop valve on the cold water supply to the pump but keep the hot water supply open the pump does not work.
Has anyone any suggestions as to what the problem is and what I can do to fix this problem?
