Problem with central locking

I have a Peugeot 207 which has developed a fault. It locks itself as soon as the driver side door is closed. When I get out of the car and shut the door the car locks itself where as I used to have to press the button on the fob. I thought at first I may have activated a feature but apparently this isnt the case.

If the keys are in the ignition it doesn't lock itself when I close the door. If other doors are closed it doesn't happen, only happens when the driver side door is closed.

This effectively means that it is now ridiculously easy to lock the keys inside the car!

So far the only thing iv thought of the check is a fault on the fob itself. To rule this out I decided to take the fob I usually use and take it far front he car and then try locking/unlocking with the spare fob. The problem was still there.

Before I hand it over to an auto electrician Im hoping for some suggestions of things to try which could be simple which I can rule out. Im thinking along the lines of a fuse or a misaligned sensor or a contact which could be cleaned, I really don't know!

Any ideas?

Cheers.

If you have the radio code for the car try disconnecting the main car battery for 30 mins to see if it resets the computers.
Cant say ive heard of this fault before so difficult to diagnose, maybe a good spray of wd40 into the lock area may help too.

Hi John
I too have the exact same central locking problem with my Peugeot 207 SW Allure. Did you manage to sort it out?

Mine has an additional problem of alarming an coolant temperature alarm, the needle hit the top on the guage and tells me to stop driving it. It does this when just starting from cold so I know its not actually the coolant temp, was going to change the thermostat.
Any help appreciated cheers
Jon

Hi. I still do not have this sorted. I am carrying 2 sets of keys around with me at the moment! I dont seem to have any other symptoms, just the locking problem.

Its interesting that yours is also an allure model.

If anyone has any ideas pleas let us know!

Right chaps I've had a similar problem to this.
Car opens fine with fob but when I shut the drivers door the car locks. Shutting the passenger door causes no problems. Both doors lock when starting the engine.
So, I gave the locking mechanism on the drivers door a good squirt of wd40 then locked/unlocked the car a few times with both the fob and the locking button on the dash and...(fingers crossed) it seems to have worked.
Weather here is cold and damp and the car is filthy and constantly got that damp, greasy coating of dirt and grit.

Hope this helps

I fixed it a similar way, by manually locking and unlocking with the key in the lock.

I have this problem but only with my front passenger door.. I will try the steps above using the key and wd40 see if it works. If not I guess I may have to pay a garage to fix it
