I live in Thailand in an area where electricians don't know one end the screwdriver form another. Today I am not sure that I do, having stared at this for hours, but I am on my own, so some help please.

I have installed a 16a/6a garage consumer unit for my new swimming pool pump and roof lights and the RCD trips out on both circuits.

I have carried out the following checks and nothing makes any difference:-
Changed all components in the CU, one at a time.
I have isolated the L and N on each circuit in turne and the other trips the RCD.

The house CU has no RCD and I have picked up from an existing external supply that has no earth. So instead I installed a 1 metre earth bar next to the CU to feed the CU.

Any ideas. RCD's are not widely used here, so I bought 2 CU's form the UK, the UK is 240v and here we have 220v, I guess that makes no difference?

Any help please?

Are you certain that the neutrals that feed the circuits are connected to the neutral of the RCD and nowhere else.

Those neutrals must not be connected to the same neutral bar as the incoming supply.

Sometimes the makers of the CU leave a link inbetween the incoming neutral bar and the RCD's neutral bar. It is a common mistake to leave that link in.

Post a photo of the innerds of your CU if the above does not fix the prob.

Fixed it! should have known, too many trades to learn here.

You are a gentleman mate, I will buy you a drink when I see you. I should have known really, did one on a boat a year ago and didn't make that mistake.
