Hi

I have a Santon Premier Plus PP210E pressurised hot water cylinder, its about 7 years old now, we live in a hard water area. The cylinder has two electric immersion rods and the water is heated by these.

The problem i have is that the hot water pressure drops off to a trickle after the hot water tap is turned on for a few seconds, the water coming out is hot just that there is basically no flow. You turn the tap off, then back on again and once again you get a reasonable flow for a couple of seconds then it reverts back to a trickle. The cold water pressure/flow are fine.

We had British Gas out today (it's under their service contract) and they checked the strainer which was fine and recharged the bubble (think that's what he said). Basically neither worked. He said the only remaining thing it can be is that the cylinder is scaled inside preventing the cold water getting into the tank, hence no pressure. Oh and clearing of 'physical blockages' such as scale is not covered :(

Does this sound correct, 7 years does not seem very old?

definately a blockage, just depends where it is... Could be a dodgy valve somewhere in line..?
