replaced pump in airing cuboard, which had a leak and fused electrics, now rads down stairs stay cold, up stairs does get hot but boiler(an ideal)cuts out.rads are all original ,no TRVs,except bathroom which is a mess and has no bleed valve so have been cracking top nut to relase air. have bled all rads several times but still think there is more air as there is noise from pipes above boiler before it cuts out.
new pump seems to work fine but does get hot.
drained system to replace pump.
when bleeding rads there seems more pressure upstairs than down.there is a little heat getting to the feed pipe to 2 of the downstairs rads but not enough to heat them. :(
Any ideas?

Have you bled the pump?

As you have drained the system, I assume you've replaced the pump valves. If so, are they fully open?

Is the hot water circuit ok?

The pump is the right way round isnt it?

More than likely an air lock in the pipework. Turn off all the working rads (and the hot water if its circulating) and turn the pump up to its highest speed and turn it on and off in small bursts. It will clear eventually.
