My neighbours shower broke last night, it was old so not worth repairing really he wanted a new one. His old shower was a Aquatronic 3 Plus 9.5kw.

Went to Argos purchased a Madrid II Electric shower 8.5KW

I went back and replaced his old shower with his new shower. However after wiring up and plumbing in nothing. The LED was static when in the off position and when turn to cold to commision the unit the LED flickers every now and then.

I believed this to be faulty so returned and swapped for another of the same model. However after installing this the problems are the same. The Water is turned out, and I have checked the Solenoid even though this was a brand new unit just to rule that option out.

Anyone have any suggestions, or anyone near Leicester could help out my elderly neighbour?

Many thanks

Gary

3 showers not working maybe you should be thinking more of problem with electrics than showers

Hi Even though the LED's light up ? There could still be a problem with the wiring ?

I Will go round in the morning and check again the wiring go to the shower.

Any other suggestions ??

The neon should be static soon as pullcord is in on position.
Neon flickering points to a bad connection.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, his old installation was as follows:

Pull cord switch which turns the extractor fan on and powers the shower.

I have installed his new shower in the same manner, would this be posing a problem?

Thanks

Gary

Maybe not the shower install but the supply further back.
Does the pullcord neon flicker ?

Thought I would add this incase this could be relevant or coincidental his old shower stopped working the day after he had his loft re-insulated ? As I say could be coincidence ? Or could be part of the problem .

Thanks

I will check when he returns. The extractor fan come on ok and shower does show power by LED.

May go to B&Q physically look at 10mm cable to see if thats what he has going to his shower.

If not local guy to replace this wiring .

What sort if cost would I expect to be quoted ??

Gary

Looking at his current cable the live and neutral are stranded however his earth is not. It's solid copper. Which reading up is not 10mm for sure!
