Evening all

My kitchen has had old mains powered (240v) led strip lights from when I moved in, one never worked and now the other side has gone.

I wanted to replace them with like for like but the strip I’ve bought doesnt seem to like me using a length of flex connected to the rectifier cable connector with the other end soldered onto the strip light.

I also noticed the strip doesn’t work if I connect ir to the connector with the arrow facing away from the mains connection but is fine the other way?

Is there something not allowed by soldering wires to create an extension?

What do you mean by strip light? We used to call the fluorescent tubes strip lights, but today the flexible LED units are often called strip lights.

The same goes for rectifier, not sure what you are calling a rectifier? A LED replacement for a fluorescent is normally wired like this

The starter replacement is basic a fuse.

It’s an led strip light that you normally use with a driver, but this one is 240v and wired firstly to 2 Core T&E and uses this to connect to the other side of kitchen where the lights are stuck underneath the cabinet
