Vokera Compact 24 (Gas), non condensing with a few problems.
My mum’s boiler has been playing up for a while.
The pressure continually rises; even when the boiler is cold, sometimes it goes up to 3 and in the red. This causes the PRV to leak outside, sometimes its hot water leaking and it can be really bad. Also the pipes vibrate when running the hot water. The water from the hot taps can sometimes be discoloured, like a light brown colour.
I got a plumber, out who my mum knows, he said that it was the expansion vessel that was the problem, so he replaced it with a new one and she thought that was it, but all the same problems still occur, infact the water seems browner.
My mum phoned him up and he is now saying it could be the heat exchange that could be the problem. But he still has not told her whets causing the pressure levels and water discolourisation.
Can any plumbers on the forums advise me to what the problem could be? Is my mum’s boiler faulty, she still gets hot water and central heating? Her boiler is a Vokera Compact 24. My mum is 74 and I would like this problem to be sorted.
Is it worthwhile phoning this homefix number with British Gas?
She has signed up for this Homecare 300, she has not arranged for the engineer to come out to inspect the boiler, but I know they will not give her a contract because it will fail the checks.
Thanks, I hope I have supplied enough info.
