Problems with float switch in header tank

The mercury switches are now replaced by ordinary micro switches. I helped a colleague replace one of these a few weeks back. They are generally reliable, but after many years service, the mechanics get tired and dusty and sticky. A separate float could be wired in to offer independent protection.

When in Lincolnshire we had a well and pump I had two 50 mm overflows and the pump was a dab well pump which shut off at 2.5 bar but we also had an overfill switch which a mate put in so if the level went over the float by 30 mm it shut off the pump till the level went down and if it went 50 mm over the high level then it went down the overflow my mate did a great ob never had any probs.Bob
